Possibly my biggest gripe is simply the glacial pace it feels like every turn moves at, and since so much of what happens in any given battle is repetitive that can be aggravating. In terms of production values the polished look and at least reasonably-good voice acting do try to help pump things up, as does the incorporation of some roguelike unpredictability, but too often the ground you’re treading throughout feels a bit too familiar nonetheless since no matter how exotic your units may look if they still function in very traditional ways the unique edge gets lost in the process. Also, the constant equipping of the individual units always makes sense. The game captivates you and you always want to continue playing the campaign. We are curious to see what further content the developers from Gasket Games will release in the coming weeks and months.

You’ll curse the gods for its difficulty and theodd technical hitch, but this turn-basedstrategy game is surprisingly enjoyable if youcan push past that.

There’s some roughness around its edges and it does frustrate in certain aspects, but Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground does do a good job at being accessible for newcomers to the strategy genre while adding tons of replayability, as long as you enjoy the roguelike grind that follows. While it feels priced a little high, the value is there if you’re willing to sink the hours into the lengthy and challenging campaign.

Unfortunately, Storm Ground couldn't live up to my expectations. If the developers put a little more work into the title, I might come back and give the adventure a second chance.

It doesn't work properly. Items aren't sorted and I'd a card is used it doesn't say by who. It has some lag. And honestly I don't know why is roguelike the peace is so slow to be roguelike. It is frustrating. A campaign mode straight forward would have been much more nice.. I don't recommend.

Considering it’s the first videogame adaptation of the latest edition of Games Workshop’s famous miniature wargame, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Stormground really is quite a success. The Canadian studio Gasket Games offers us a very convincing, fun and addictive turn-based and tactical roguelite game experience. Indeed, the core of the gameplay is focused on skirmishes with fewer than fifteen units present at the same time and does not offer the tremendous battles that can be experienced with the miniature game. However, thebattles are dynamic and tactical enough to satisfy the experienced players and sufficiently accessible to attract some new ones. The fact that there are only three factions may also disappoint, but choosing the faction wisely will have its importance and will enable the gameplay to be different each time. If the title finds its audience, other locations and factions could soon join the fight. That would be well deserved.

I like how the battles tend to last 10-15 minutes, so it fits well into the workday and totally bombing a run isn't the end of the world. Your achievements carry over into the next attempt. Looking forward to more factions.

This game didn't need to be a roguelike, and the quirks of its structure cast a bit of a pall over the entire product. There's an abundance of content here, with multiple campaigns per faction and plenty of scope for tactics... but enough of it falls into the category of "luck of the draw" that it's somewhat outrageous just how much essentially unchanged content it makes you play through over and over again when you fail — or even when you succeed. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is a good game with some issues. The new unlockable units, the story line, and the whole setup of the universe happily draws you in. Yet some strange design decisions only come together to push you away again. With a little tweaking, this could be a great game, but the way things are set up does it no favours.

A great strategy title for fans of tactical turn-based combat. The synergy between different factions, playstyles, and faction heroes offers plenty of variety and, combined with the reward system, keeps things interesting. It's not very well suited for a controller. Other than that my only complaint is the UI, which is atrocious.The tactical gameplay is interesting and the three factions all feature unique mechanics to make them feel distinct. The addition of roguelite mechanics seems like a novel idea for this genre as well. If your commander dies it's game over and any other units killed in battle are lost for good, though you get a limited number of revives. New units, and gear/skills to customize them, are acquired as you progress. The procedurally generated nature of the campaign means the game is heavy on replayability but light on narrative.This game is definitely rough around the edges but I enjoy it. I would hesitate to recommend it to someone who isn't already a fan of the genre or setting.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is a compact and well made turn-based strategy offering that neatly walks the tightrope of being able to offer beginners not only a decent introduction to the genre, but also to the sprawling Warhammer fantasy setting as well. Though it lacks in scope and can become repetitive, its bite-sized nature and surprising use of roguelike mechanics helps to ensure it remains compelling in a way that few other Warhammer games have managed.

Basic stuff. I’d have gladly took a hit somewhere else to avoid that and I’m betting no compromise would even be needed if they’d just taken the time to optimise instead of releasing alongside all other platforms.Wait for a well publicised patch or give it a miss; these are your only real options. You have been warned.

From the viewpoint of a casual but interested fan, Storm Ground is a success both as an enjoyable turn-based strategy rogue-lite game and as yet another product in the vast and varied Warhammer universe. Although it exists primarily as a training ground for multiplayer, the single-player campaign is worth playing, though it would have been even better with a true dramatic arc instead of the “infinitely replayable” roguelike runs. The three factions are a great place to start and whet the appetite for expansions and additional content.
