These games have influenced my life considerably, and when Squadrons was announced last year I set about looking up all the old friends and groups from those games back in the day, and I've been having a blast ever since, and making many new friends along the way.We started playing XvT/XWA again in preparation for Squadrons coming out, and it's rekindled so many joyful memories and experiences from those games I played in my childhood. Amazingly I'm part of groups that still play XvT and XWA, as well as Squadrons, and it's honestly been my best gaming experience since XvT. I honestly hope it was popular enough to make Squadrons 2 or other true star wars space sims a reality in the future.10/10 doesn't feel like it gives the experience I've had from this game justice. Ignore the bigots and the haters, this game is fantastic and the community is still thriving despite no further support from EA.

And they said it could takes days. I think they got tons of refunds around Christmas, because that was FAST!

There’s a good concept at the core of Star Wars: Squadrons, as flying a space fighter and managing its systems can be a lot of fun, however, you have to be a very dedicated Star Wars fan to enjoy a drab campaign with just a handful of memorable moments and watered-down multiplayer modes from Battlefront 2.

Really cool story so far and fun Multiplayer, unfortunately there are no content updates planned, so for ten points it is a little less.

After playing the modern Star Wars Battlefront and its sequel I had some high hopes for Star Wars: Squadrons. I enjoyed the story, and playing both Empire and Rebel sides gave great additional context to proceedings. It’s also a stunning looking affair, the first person viewpoint showcasing lots of fine detail in the little switches and dials all immersing you in the experience. I’m not a big fan of first person aerial combat and would have liked a 3rd person option (especially as we don’t get a VR option on Xbox) though. Also managing some of the elements of the ship is tricky as I needed to constantly flick between the analogue stick and d-pad to adjust energy flow.

Star Wars: Squadrons is the dogfighting experience in the iconic sci-fi universe we've been waiting for, and the game is supremely passionate about making this something that genre veterans and hesitant newcomers can enjoy with minimal obstacles.

This game will keep me occupied for long time.

The typical gamer will find Star Wars Squadrons a difficult game with a bland storyline and poor content. Others will have an opportunity to take out their joysticks and find out just how great the classic Star Wars sims were. It's good that the gaming community was reminded of the classics like X-Wings and TIE Fighers, but I'm still waiting for a true gem to come in the future.

Squadrons' gameplay core is finely tuned, and its spectacle layer nails the Star Wars illusion. Perhaps in a few months I'll long for a meatier suite of modes and maps, but, in the heat of battle, Rebel and Imperial pilots haven't had an experience this engaging since the Nintendo GameCube era.

The campaign part is quite boring and uninspired but i was more looking forward to the multiplayer part which is fun.Other than that the whole game feels like a mini game with the lack of content and options. EA already stated that there will be no DLC so this explains the low price... I would recommend all players to test it first and make your own thoughts if you really need this great "mini game".

It's not perfect, it's rather limited, and while it carries SOME of the spirit of the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series, the scope is far narrower. I would have loved to see a greater variety of ships, factions, and objectives, not to mention more story playing out in-mission like the old XW/TF games, and not in frankly awkward feeling 1st person cutscenes/conversations. (The view controls outside the cockpit felt lifeless and broke the immersion for me. Also when I launch the mission I watch the Tie hanger crane start to pick up my Tie. Hey! you're forgetting me! I'm out here!)All that said, I try to judge games on one thing: do I have fun playing it? Yes, I absolutely do. Set your expectations for a $40 mini-title that will tickle your Star Wars fancy and you won't be disappointed.

I’ve been waiting 23 years for a game to come along and take the crown for the best Star Wars flight sim from X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, and have had to endure guff like 2001’s Starfighter in the meantime. Well, it’s finally here. This is now the high watermark for interactive Star Wars experiences.

With some unexpectedly complex and challenging controls, Star Wars: Squadrons is not the sort of game that you jump into and play casually. Squadrons is a surprisingly deep flight sim-style space battler that benefits from all of the sights and sounds of the Star Wars universe. While fun played on TVs, Squadrons really comes to life in VR, despite some resolution issues. This is simply the best Star Wars space battle game ever produced, and is a dream come true for fans.

Star Wars: Squadrons certainly has a few issues. Its enjoyable campaign has some dull moments outside of the cockpit and the multiplayer, as stupendously thrilling as it is, is a bit too barebones at the moment. But it's also the most fun and immersive Star Wars flight sim experience we've ever had thanks to its immaculate gameplay and incredibly polished production.

Star Wars: Squadrons is a mostly-successful throwback offering impressive sights, intense action, and the opportunity for fun multiplayer throwdowns. Some mechanical quirks, a couple irritating missions, and a lack of depth holds Squadrons back from being a true bullseye, but those who have missed blasting TIE Fighters should find the game worth the ride.

Soaring through space and blasting ships is a lot of fun, and its implementation of VR is so good it feels mandatory now for future Star Wars flight games. More variety would go a long way, but at least it comes in a little cheaper at $40. Squadrons is easily one of the best Star Wars games to support VR, and it’s a solid choice all around.

Don't listen to the bigots who are review bombing this for lgbtq or racial reasons... At $40 this is a steal. I'm hoping that they keep this game updated and current for years to come.

Star Wars: Squadrons has its heart in the right place and a comprehensive, in-depth set of flight mechanics go a long way towards realising that childhood dream of piloting an X-Wing. It achieves the vision in some ways, but in others, the package lacks excitement and content. However the controls are awful, like they designed it for all these inputs but failed at all of them. Despite my best efforts and tweaking, nothing made flying less of a chore. Single player is boring and multiplayer is an unfun, imbalanced sweat fest. I don't even want to know what kind of time sink and tolerance for bad design it takes to "git gud" but I'm simply not willing to try. I love Star Wars so this was a big let down.

An incredible experience in terms of immersion to feel like a pilot of the galaxy far, far away, especially with HOTAS and VR. It is a bit lacking in game modes in the multiplayer portion.

However, the gameplay controls in Star Wars Squadrons are terrible for space dogfighting and there are way better games out there that are far superior in every way if you want an actual enjoyable space battle game. The cockpit instruments are boring, the resource management, while simple, is not very intuitive during fast-paced battles, and the hud is boring and not very creative. Flight controls are a chore rather than feeling immersive or fun. To top that off, the story is mediocre and the characters are not likable, boring, corny, and frankly the alien races feel like something out of a poorly written sci-fi novel written for tweeners. This all makes for a game that is really meant to be played more like Battlefront 2 without the ground battles and frankly I'd probably rather play Battlefront 2 for the space battles than Squadrons because it was more enjoyable. And then there's the fact that for whatever reason unknown to me, after starting the game up a few hours after the first time I played it, the game was buggy with noticeable and frequent audio and video stuttering. I tried everything I could to remedy the problem including reinstalling the most up-to-date drivers, reinstalling the game, adjusting different graphics settings, locking the framerate at every different cap, and switching between fullscreen and borderless. Nothing seemed to remedy the problems though the game was playable after tolerating it for like 10 minutes or so. My hardware exceeds the recommended specs and none of my other games were causing me problems so I can only assume it was an not optimized game at launch. I am giving it a five because for Star Wars people that want to have pvp dogfights and space battles this game scratches that itch, but I do not recommend it. I ended up getting a refund for this game because it was just not for me.

Yes, Gunny and Gray turned out to be very good, but I would like to see more open representatives of minorities both in the game and in general, in the Star Wars universe. I was also hoping to see Grey's husband in the story.-The Phoenix Squadron look does not match the Rebels animated series. I was hoping to see the blue-green camouflage of the fighters under Sato's command.

Simultaneously a franchise cash-in and love letter to the classic LucasArts PC space combat games of the 1990s, Squadrons sticks to its mission and comes out the other side of a warp-speed jump successfully. Pummeling a star destroyer against the Wild Berry Skittles-esque backdrop of Yavin Prime doesn’t require my undivided attention or multiple scans of my credit card. Seems like a fair deal to me. 8/10 burning embers of Alderaan.
