For example, like the "Hot Shot" badge, this badge allows you to get the takeover (A huge bonus for the player's attributes and abilities for a limited time when you play well). Blinders, which absolutely gives no contest to defenders when they are contesting from the side. The game always comes out uncompleted. The lag and sloppy movements were extreme, it was really unplayable. They "say" they fix those in the patches later on, but the problem still exists. When the game came out, the moving fade 3s were too overpowered and they took a long time to fix the problem. They always fix it too late. The game just feels bad. The player builder is very unbalanced, (Like giving way more badges to a certain position) and everyone has exactly the same builds, heights, weights, attributes, and everything. The game is really bad.

NBA 2K21 is... proof that 2K is going nowhere but downhill. NBA 2K21 Next Generation takes full advantage of next-gen hardware, improving graphics and physics but also adding more content and welcome new modes; playing at 4K 60fps with great graphics and truly alive arenas is a real joy. It should be no great shock that next-gen NBA 2K21 is the best-looking basketball game ever made. What's perhaps more surprising is that 2K has added two substantial modes (in the new WNBA career mode The W and the massively multiplayer The City) to make it the most feature-packed one ever too. Much of its content still has the weight of microtransactions hanging over it, but as long as you don't mind ignoring that and putting in the grind instead, this is a great purchase for NBA fans: especially if you held fire and haven't played 2K21 on Xbox One yet.

Overall, one does not have to be a massive fan of basketball to appreciate this game. Being a fan of basketball only adds to the enjoyment. If you enjoy playing sports games and are looking for a good basketball game NBA 2K 21 is undoubtedly that game to add to your collection.

For the players who have invested heavily both time and money on a previous iteration, NBA2K21 has nothing new to offer. The new MyCareer story and the necessary roster updates would not justify a purchase at its full price. Our grade refers to the technical aspects of the game, but we are highly critical on how the series have devolved into a microtransactions Pay2Progress model.

The basketball itself is solid, it alternates between looking really nice and surprisingly dated. The new shot meter will divide people, but it’s optional and one of the few changes from last year's game. The microtransactions were previously a sore point with 2K20, and it is even sorer here. For a full-priced AAA game, you should never feel like you have to spend more money to engage with half of the game. If you really want the most up to date NBA game and the MyTeam seasons then 2K21 is the obvious choice. Otherwise, NBA 2K21 is mostly the same game you played last year.

Now that I've played the newest iteration, I can say that it's just terrible. 2K should feel embarrassed with the product they put out. They should be even more ashamed for using Kobe to get more money. My theory is that they intentionally made this game bad to force people to buy the "improved" next-gen version. It just reeks of greed.First off, let's address the elephant in the room. The shooting. I don't care what any Youtuber or "Get Good" bro says, the shooting is broken. I have tried about 30 different jumpshots so far, and cannot get consistent green with any of them. This wouldn't be a problem if you didn't HAVE to have green to make the basket. But if you don't get green (especially in The Neighborhood) you will most likely miss the shot. Why is this bad? It's bad because it ruins any chance of playing sim basketball. Instead, every game devolves into dunks and layups. Even in MyTeam (2K's cash cow), once you get to the higher tiers, the games are just a dunk/layup contest. The shooting has made this game almost unplayable. And it's definitely not fun.Prelude- This one is just a personal preference. I think the prelude was way too long. Too many pointless high school games and too many college games. I ended up skipping most of the cutscenes because they seemed to just drag on. I was four hours into the game and still wasn't at the draft yet. Speaking of the draft, I hate how they let you pick your team. Players can't do that in real life, so why here. I did a workout with the Thunder and ended up getting drafted by them with the 2nd pick. Funny thing is, they also had the 1st pick and drafted Cobb. (How the hell would they have the first and second picks? That was outrageous). I remember in 2k(10?) you did the pre-draft combine stuff and went up against top draft picks like John Wall and Evan Turner to get your draft grade. If you did good, a random team would draft you. If not, you were headed to the D-League. What ever happened to that?MyCareer- This mode is relatively the same. Same layout, same assistant coach that speaks for the head coach (They didn't even change his look from last year), etc. But then there were things 2K left out. There's not more Inside the NBA with Shaq, Kenny, Earnie, and Chuck. No more press conferences after the game. When you negotiate an endorsement, all of that is done via text rather than you going into the office. They were just too lazy to add stuff that was already in the game last year. Again, using 2k10 for reference, I remember when you played a nationally televised game or a game against a superstar at your position it was called a "key game" and you would earn bonus XP. That always made me want to play better during those games. I'm not sure why they removed that.Overall, this is just a lazy cash grab. If you haven't already purchased this but want to, I'd say wait until the next-gen version comes out. No sense in wasting your time building a MyPlayer only for you to have to start over again. This game and Madden are examples of why competition is good. Whenever a company has a monopoly, the consumers are the ones that suffer the most.

I’ve enjoyed playing the NBA 2K games on Switch the past few years, but I can’t help but feel the move to next-gen could spell doom for this series being fresh and enjoyable on the lower-spec Nintendo platform. With a solid new story mode, a greatly improved MyTeam mode and the same high quality of presentation that 2K now brings to the series on Switch, NBA 2K21 is now the new definitive basketball game on the system. The unwanted microtransaction ogre continues to loom over most of the package, ever encouraging you to fork out more cash to accelerate your progress, but as long as you're capable of ignoring this and have the patience to slowly improve your player and team organically, the results will be infinitely more satisfying.

Smoother layout, game runs better but still has about 80% of the problems last years game had. With that being said the my career is much more fun with the smoother layout and it is also a huge improvement with the character customization(ie more brands and accessories) gameplay is a bit harder on the park but once you get used to it the game is not too bad!
