It has vastly more content, a more charming and simple visual and this style of game lends itself well to PC. That being said, if you don't have a PC then this is a good game and very enjoyable to play with a friend. This and Orcs Must Die are the better choices in this genre on PS4/5.There are some negatives, there are a lot of visual glitches on Ps5 but none of them are game breaking or distracting. Series EV (a character to play as) is massively overpowered. We were already playing on Insane at level 20 after a few hours of playing. So, there are some rather glaring balancing issues. The campaign levels are all rather short, which may be attractive to some, however, the survival levels can take hours to complete and not prove to enough of a challenge to be worth hours. If you dont play PC games and want a chill FPS TD game, this is a fab choice. If you have PC you'd be mad to not play the original instead, it's so much better.

The console version of Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is delivered as a careless port. Although it has an outdated visuals, horrible menus and the impression of an unfinished product, the traditional fun proposed by the game is present and should please veterans and nostalgics alike.

Unless you are familiar with the series and wish to play a remake of the original, I would recommend playing DD2 for free, and then wait to see which game the developer pulls the plug on (Awakened or Going Rogue) before committing to a purchase that requires multiplayer to enhance Awakened’s dull gameplay.

In the case of the Dungeon Defenders series this has been done in a first-person perspective with you taking on a hero from one of a handful of classes, either solo or with your friends, to set up defenses and then work to protect your dungeon core while masses of enemies attack. I've played this, and some of its competition before on PC where everything works pretty well but this was my first foray on a console. While I don't doubt you could undoubtedly get used to the control scheme and interfaces for managing your defenses, progressing your character, switching out your equipment, and battling enemies effectively there are come control choices here that strike me as both unusual and cumbersome. That some of these things aren't explained well (or, in some cases, at all) as you get ramped up and used to everything then additionally adds a layer of early frustration that doesn't help the game make a great case for being worth the effort. Throw in general play that was, at one point, more novel but now feels like it has become more stagnant in terms of creativity and excitement and while people playing with friends may get a kick out of the collective experience people tackling it solo may not find it to be as compelling.https://www.nindiespotlight.com/2021/08/mini-reviews-august-11th-edition.html

I enjoyed playing the Nintendo Switch port for DDA. Outside the issues with scaling while playing handheld, the experience was virtually identical to my experience with the PC version last year. Even though I only played offline, I can certainly see DDA being a great party game for Discord communities and game nights, given its easy learning curve and fast-paced playstyle. The variety of hero combinations and playstyles, several game modes, and different game difficulties allow endless hours of replayability, a great moniker for a Nintendo Switch game. If you can get past the minor accessibility issues, you may find yourself fighting wave after wave and hour and hour in Dungeon Defenders: Awakened.
