Publisher Nacon and developer Rogue Factor have confirmed that Hell is Us is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with a revised launch date of October 8, 2026 – exactly two weeks after the originally announced September 24 target.
The Switch 2 version was first announced at Nacon Connect 2026 on May 7, alongside a dedicated trailer. The announcement confirmed previous speculation fuelled by an ESRB rating leak that had appeared online weeks earlier. The delay was communicated on July 9 via an official statement, with the teams citing a congested September release calendar as the reason for the push.
“September 2026 is very busy in terms of game releases. So, we believe it’s best for everyone involved, our team and our partners, and for you, the players, to move our release date to a less busy period.”
What is Hell is Us?
Hell is Us is an action-adventure game developed by Rogue Factor and published by Nacon, originally released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on September 4, 2025. The game’s creative pedigree includes Deus Ex: Human Revolution creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête.
Played from a third-person perspective, players control a soldier named Rémi and fight supernatural beings called “Hollow Walkers” using a variety of melee weapons – swords, polearms, and axes – each with their own attack style and speed. Rémi is also equipped with a drone that can be used to distract hostile creatures.
Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game leans heavily into atmosphere, player-driven exploration, and a rejection of modern UI-heavy design – with no minimaps, waypoint markers, or traditional quest tracking systems.

Critical reception
Hell is Us received “generally favorable” reviews from critics according to Metacritic, while OpenCritic assessed that the game was recommended by 79% of critics. The title was marked as one of publisher Nacon’s best-rated games of all time.

What the Switch 2 port brings
The Switch 2 edition arrives roughly 13 months after the original multi-platform launch. The reveal at Nacon Connect 2026 caught many viewers off guard, as the game had largely been associated with high-end console and PC platforms up to that point.
For Switch 2 owners picking up the game for the first time, the core experience remains the same war-torn world of Hadea – no maps, no compass, no quest markers, and melee combat built around a drone-and-blade system that rewards patience over button-mashing.
